Sean Jones & Friends: Miles at 100 - A Fundraiser for Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival

Jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator and activist, Sean Jones, is greatly influenced by the music and vision of Miles Davis and even toured with members of his band; Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Marcus Miller, honoring his legacy 20 years after his passing in a “’Tribute to Miles” in 2011. Since that time, Sean Jones has toured internationally with his own bands, stepped in to the role of Chair of Jazz Studies at Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, and artistic director for Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra. He shared that Miles Davis 1989 album, Amandla, greatly influenced him as a young person and changed his life forever. Jazz became the path for his life’s work. On June 23rd, Sean Jones and a group of supreme musicians will honor Miles Davis Centennial birthday. Proceeds from this concert will benefit the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival and education programs.
